Reviving a favorite tradition, the Canadian Arts Alliance has announced the dates for its 2010 Drama Camp. According to Canadian Arts Alliance Project Coordinator Mistie Walser, the camp will be held from June 28 to July 2, 2010, at the newly refurbished Texas Crown Performance Hall. A musical version of Pinocchio will be presented on the evening of July 2.

This year the campers will be divided into two groups. Children who are going into First through Twelfth Grade will be enrolled in the senior camp and will rehearse from 10am to 3:30pm each day. Younger children ages 4-6 will be enrolled in the junior camp and will rehearse from 10am to 2pm daily. The junior camp will present a separate production.

In a major change from previous years, the senior campers’ show will be directed by members of the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT). Ms Walser will take charge of the junior campers.

Missoula Children’s Theatre sends a team of two actor/directors who provide the instruction and direction for the musical. They also provide all the costumes, props, and makeup that are needed for the show.

The Missoula Children's Theatre is the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre and has been touring extensively for thirty seven years. They have produced children’s theatrical shows from Montana to Japan and will visit nearly 1,300 communities this year. Nearly forty five teams of Tour Actor/Directors spread out each summer to introduce children to the theater and to the art of acting. In addition to the production, the two directors will also conduct three enrichment workshops.

Tuition for the senior camp is $100 while tuition for the junior camp is $75. There is a discount of $25 for each additional sibling attending the camp. Some scholarships are available.

Registration forms will be accepted until June 14 and are available at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Auditions will begin at 10am, June 28, at the Texas Crown Performance Hall. All participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
