Masks, movies, and music:  what could be a better way to prepare for Halloween?  Join us at the Palace Theatre on October 26th at 7:30 PM for a special showing of "Phantom of the Opera", one of the most famous stories of all time. But this will not be the typical showing of "Phantom".  This is the same movie seen by your great-grandparents exactly as they would have seen it: silent and accompanied by talented musicians.  First presented in 1924, it stars Lon Chaney, "The Man of a Thousand Faces" and Mary Philban.

And because no silent movie is complete without sound, the West Texas A&M University Symphony Orchestra will travel to Canadian to premiere a new musical score written especially for "Phantom".  The Orchestra is directed by Dr. Mark Bartley.

Hailed as a horror movie, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is actually a mystery tale with added suspense that takes place in a Paris opera house believed to be haunted by a mysterious cloaked figure obsessed by one particular girl, Christine Daae (Mary Philbin), an understudy, whose main interest is her love for Raoul De Chagny (Norman Kerry), her fiance. Christine keeps hearing a compelling voice behind the walls of her dressing room that gives her encouragement to perform.

Seating for this special show will be general admission. And remember, the Palace only seats 289 persons, so buy your tickets early.

Admission for adults is $15.

Student admission is $5.
